Community Spotlight: Seraphon, Doomed Horrors & Burrows & Badgers
April 16, 2025 by brennon
Come and join us for another delve into the Projects to find the best of the best from the last week or so. We'll be getting stuck into lots of great-looking miniature wargaming painting and hobbying this week...
...always let us know what YOU have been working on and share it across the site.
Seraphon by horati0nosebl0wer
horati0nosebl0wer has been showing off their progress on a great project where they are spring cleaning not their own army but instead the army of a friend. They are aiming to turn this set of miniatures from the Warhammer Age Of Sigmar range into a great army for use in SAGA: Age Of Magic. horati0nosebl0wer has been doing a solid job on the miniatures, including this mighty character.
I really like how nice the Seraphon/Lizardmen miniatures look and I think that horati0nosebl0wer has done a sterling job on this character. They have been working to direction but also had a bit of creative freedom over a few different elements. I think the actual character in the middle looks great, especially when you take into account the way horati0nosebl0wer has painted the two different skin colours.
There are plenty of speed paints used to bring these to life. I really like the vibrant green and the painting of the bones here, as well. It looks brilliant and is going to pop when it hits the tabletop as a full army. I was particularly won over by some of the other work that horati0nosebl0wer has been doing on the Skinks, painting them with VERY bright fluorescent paint. See what you think...
As you can see, the miniatures are looking great at the moment but wait until you dive into the project and see them when they are in the dark! They look brilliant and it's a novel way for an army to come together. I wish I had a friend who would paint my army for me.
The Doomed Horrors by dugthefug1644
Next up, we're having a look at some of the work by dugthefug1644. He has been continuing to expand their Doomed collection with some miniatures from the Warhammer 40,000 world. These are going to be used as Horrors in The Doomed and I think dugthefug1644 has done some sterling work as always.
The painting from dugthefug1644 has come on leaps and bounds, as I always say, and I think the detail work on these "Horrors" is excellent. I think the dark purple works super well for the Tyranids and gives them that brutal look and feel you need.
I really like how dugthefug1644 has done the blood effects on the miniatures as well, which really adds to the dynamism of the miniatures. The little beady red eyes are excellent and you get that insectoid vibe of the miniatures coming through which you sometimes don't get when it comes to the Tyranids in traditional schemes.
It will be awesome to see how the many different (and desperate) members of dugthefug1644's Doomed crews get on when fighting these creatures! It's always nice seeing someone who doesn't feel locked into using particular miniatures to play their games. It's refreshing and something we often preach but don't always practise.
Burrows & Badgers by caesar
Last but not least, we're having a look at the work by caesar, who has been building and painting their way through an excellent range of miniatures and terrain for use when playing Burrows & Badgers. caesar has gone all-in!
Burrows & Badgers features an awesome range of miniatures, as I often preach, and it's good to see what fun caesar has been having with the miniatures from the range. I particularly liked the carrot-based coat of arms on the Hare there and a few of the little tweaks and kitbashes that caesar has done amongst the figures.
I also really liked the collection of terrain that caesar has been working on for playing games of Burrows & Badgers (and more, I would imagine). The variety of terrain here is spot on and I like that there are some solid sets of classic Fantasy terrain as well as the classic mushrooms, creaky whimsical terrain and those grubs!
caesar has also been showing off some of the great games that they have been playing, making use of the range of terrain and miniatures in their collection. It seems like the latest game they played involved this adorably BIG bear who has got their paws in the honeypot!
There's always something fun and interesting going on from caesar and I love how extra they have gone with their project. This is another one of those nudges towards me actually getting stuck in and working on my own Burrows & Badgers stuff, especially with the new edition now on my tabletop.

Great work all 😀
Nice projects, really like the burrows and badgers!
Nice!
After a week in which all my daughter has done is read/watch the Redwall books, I finally ‘get’ Burrows and Badgers.
