IIRC LEGO has a policy on “no guns and similar weapons” in their toyline. Thought that has been softened a bit with Star Wars I feel. But before Star Wars you could get Knights with sword, spear and arrow but nothing like guns.
Looking forward to tonight’s show
Yup – but, SEO/engagement 😉 As Gerry said to us earlier “can’t wait for the comments” haha
Whaaaat? Clickbait?! Noooooo! XD Also those bricks are called “Klemmbausteine” (clamping building blocks) if it’s not original LEGO. They made many legal cases in Germany so that people do not refer to other companies bricks as LEGO.
Yes, it was the no guns thing. I like that, honestly.
There were plenty of guns in the Lego wild west range, but maybe actual war is a bit too far for them?
Also the Pirates range had guns, cannon, but definitely nothing modern.
I remember reading that there was massive corporate turmoil even to do that. The company belief was play without guns for decades.
Star Wars franchise brought in lasers, too.
Money sometimes (usually?) makes ethics bend.
Nothing modern indeed…I used to do D Day with Legos as a kid except everyone had blunderbusses and 6 shooters. Good times.
The closest to an ‘official’ policy on this is on their ‘lego ideas’ website as prohibited subjects: … Death, killing, blood, terrorism, horror, or torture Warfare or war vehicles in any modern or present-day situation, or national war memorials Large or human-scale weapons or weapon replicas of any kind, including swords, knives, guns, sci-fi or fantasy blasters, etc. I’m guessing their licensing allows for a bit of wiggle room regarding the ‘weapon replica’ bit. Same thing probably applies to their themed sets like the pirates. source : https://ideas.lego.com/guidelines Their corporate website also mentions ‘ethical toy’ as a concept, which would… Read more »
Pity they wouldn’t bring out a Lego Ancient Rome. Then a certain person on the BoW crew, who shall remain nameless, who is by now infamous for not building Rome, might actually get Rome built…maybe…possibly…potentially…
The joy of Lego is you can make your own Ancient Rome @lloyd
We can only hope
😁🤞🏻
I can’t believe I missed Brickskrieg’s booth at the UKGE, but in my defense, it looks like they were tucked away in a back corner. My fault for not being more systematic in my wanderings I suppose, and it’s just as well — I would have spent a fortune there, and getting home my luggage was bursting at the seams already…
It took me ages to find Great Escape Games this year. The halls just ran into each other and it was hard to navigate. It was better with clearer divisions between the halls like last year.
Yeah, we often found ourselves asking “wait, are we still in hall 3?” before we figured out that they were all joined together. The “street names” were actually very helpful when we were trying to find specific booths.
We stumbled upon Great Escape Games entirely by accident. I hadn’t been thinking about DMH at all (hadn’t bought into the Redux) but there’s something about seeing the physical product right in front of you…we ended up buying all the new rulebooks and several new faction packs, plus an individual mini of English Bob from Unforgiven.
Love the TTRPG coverage. Have a great weekend!
K47 looks great. I’m looking forward to learning more about the updates.
Happy weekender time folk’s 👍
It puts the planes in the basket!
Or it gets the hose (again) @somegeezer
Yes you said that on the day about trying to get the book Ben
Hobart Lego tanks ?
+ Mark’s the spot
Is Dave still involved in Dropzone and Dropship?
yes he’s still the driving force behind it
Good one guy’s 👍
Always fund @zorg
I’n the land of Woke profits an war are bad 👿😈 but 🙆🤦
Blitzkrieg looks fun, no painting, very easy terrain and very easy camo patterns. Kids will love this.
New Conflict 47, it might be interesting to finally get some kits for it. I do like the German infantry.
Nice one 🙂
but if you dont drop the beacons, how will Rohan know ti come to Gondor’s aid?
Nice show guys… a week already since UKGE. 51 and counting to the next one
Ive often thought DnD could use a more skill check based spell system, so you can potentially cast infinite spells, but fatigue will likely get you ling before that. I like the idea that it becomes easier to repeat cast lower level spells as you level up too. It always bugged me that a lvl 20 wizard casts magic missile 4-6 times per day and then cant cast it again. He can kill gods, but, oh no, he cant cast Feather Fall for a 6th time in a day.
Brickskrieg looked ace when Ben spoke to them at UKGE. Konflict 47 tempts me.
Lego is just so expensive, otherwise creating whole worlds with bricks would be amazing.
K47 never interested me the first time it was lunched, so I was surprised that this time I’m quite tempted to try it. I love bolt action so some fun new miniatures and rules could be something to spice it up.
The lego gun thing makes me laugh, playmobile don’t have a problem with it. They have a bank robber set which is hilarious 😂
Loving the WWII themes!
Malifaux minis always catch my eye but I’ve never taken the plunge yet.
The Brickskrieg stuff is great, incredibly fun to have on the table. The monthly subscription box is a joy to see land on the doorstep. For anyone wanting to get into them, I do have a couple of notes: The bricks being off-brand Lego does mean the quality isn’t as good. Every kit has either one bit that is too loose and needs glued or one that is too tight and needs drilled. It is very fun to put together but it is fiddly as heck too. Instructions are online only and very awkward to access. Not just a pdf… Read more »
