March 7, 2025 by brennon
A surprise announcement from Games Workshop this week as we not only got more news on the Armies Of Middle-earth book for Games Workshop's Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game but also a new plastic miniature for Prince Imrahil.
Armies Of Middle-earth // Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game
Armies Of Middle-earth contains rules for 130 units including heroes, villains, monsters and warriors that cover Middle-earth's history. The two previous books were focused on representing scenes from both The Lord Of The Rings and The Hobbit. Here, with Armies Of Middle-earth, you'll get rules that cover the more Middle-earth moments.
For example, the Forces Of Good are getting fourteen Good Army Lists cover The Free Peoples, Rohan, Gondor, Kingdoms of Men, Elven Kingdoms and Dwarven Holds...
- Battle of Bywater
- Arathorn’s Stand
- The Grey Company
- The Beornings
- Fords of Isen
- Paths of the Drúadan
- The Fiefdoms
- The Grief of Éomer
- Arnor
- Army of Dale
- Battle of Fornost
- Kingdom of Khazad-dûm
- Army of Erebor
- Defenders of Erebor
For the Forces Of Evil, there are another fourteen lists which cover a lot of the forces not detailed in the two previous books from Games Workshop.
- Army of the Great Eye
- Sharkey’s Rogues
- Moria
- Dragons of the North
- Host of the Witch-king
- Shadows of Angmar
- Buhrdûr’s Horde
- Wolf Pack of Angmar
- Army of Carn Dûm
- The Easterlings
- Host of the Dragon Emperor
- The Serpent Horde
- Umbar
- Grand Army of the South
Sharkey's Rogues will be good for those wanting to play out the Scouring Of The Shire, and I have a friend who is happy that Buhrdûr’s Horde is back. The Army Of The Great Eye is going to be an intriguing one as well to dive into. Some new miniatures are also coming down the line, including the fascinating War Drakes of Rhûn.
New Prince Imrahil!
The Armies Of Middle-earth is also joined by a new plastic set for the mighty Prince Imrahil, who will be leading the forces of Dol Amroth at the Battle of Pellenor Fields.
Prince Imrahil Of Dol Amroth // Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game
You get a brand new plastic foot and mounted version of Prince Imrahil for you to paint up and he is looking absolutely stunning. Add him in alongside your Swan Knights and ride down the forces of Mordor as they pursue the wounded Faramir. A glorious new miniature who will find full rules in the new Armies Of Middle-earth book.
Could you be tempted to pick up the new book or perhaps the plastic miniature for Imrahil?

Amazing mini!
I’ve been critical of a lot of the MESBG minis of late but I like this Imrahil a lot.
The figure doesn’t look very Middle Earthie.. Maybe the advertising will say suitable for Middle Eartb or Brettonian Oldhammer general
It does look very ME; it’s a massive upgrade on the original Imrahil, who was very “meh”. This one I actually like, a lot!
It’s a great model. but why this in plastic and now. It seems so random. If this is the beginning of something then great. Otherwise it just seems such a strange thing to invest in. Plastic tooling obviously isn’t that expensive in GW can invest in this.
